Description
Chair with flexible rope as back and armrests
More like a silhouette than a solid chair, the Rope Chair by Artek a line drawing translated into three dimensions, a simple artistic gesture that is implemented in the room.
The chair designed by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec is a synthesis of opposites: sophisticated technology and creative expression, solid structure and flexible elements, rigid tubes and flexible rope. The rope, designed for use at sea, is at the heart of the unexpected comfort of the chair; as a load-bearing part of the construction, it enables the chair to be adapted to the user.
Made of tubular steel, beech wood, ash veneer and rope
Where other chairs dictate a certain way of sitting, the Rope Chair invites creativity in posture by promoting dynamic movements and changes in position. When the seated person rises, the frame of the chair bears the traces of the body that he was wearing last, the imprint of a user who also defines his shape.
The chair consists of a frame made of steel tubes in different colors, a seat made of molded beech plywood with ash fur in different colors. Depending on the chair variant, the rope is made of flax or polyester.
