The Easter Vase by Artek is a ceramic vase inspired by a Finnish spring ritual. In April, Finnish children welcome the end of winter by dressing up as witches and decorating willow branches with feathers and small ornaments. Going from door to door, the little witches expect sweets and treats in return for their blessings.

To wish their neighbors a healthy year, they say, “Virvon, varvon, tuoreeks terveeks, tulevaks vuodeks; vitsa sulle, palkka mulle.” Or: “I will wave a branch for a new and healthy year; a branch for you, a pleasure for me!
