Description
Aalto Chair Made from Birch Wood
Alvar Aalto counts as one of the most important Scandinavian designers and architects of the 20th century. He designed his chair with the number 66 in 1935.
In the same year Aalto founded the company Artek with his wife Aino and two designer friends, with the company still producing the chair. Influenced by the German Bauhaus, Alvar Aalto experimented with manufacturing from plywood from 1927 onwards. Natural materials and organic shapes became trademarks of his designs.
This is reflected in Chair 66, which is made completely from birch wood and has many curves and round surfaces.
Innovative and Unmatched Stability
The L shape of the chair legs resulting from that guarantees stability unmatched even today.
Organically Curved Structures
He consciously resisted cold machinery aesthetics and modern artificial materials in this design. Chair 66 by Artek is available in multiple colours and with or without cushioning. The chair is delivered unassembled.
