Description
Rollable pine screen
Unlike the followers of the Bauhaus movement, who celebrated linear formalism, designer Alvar Aalto took nature as his model. His designs are organic designs influenced by the Scandinavian landscape.
Alvar Aalto designed the screen in 1938 for the Finnish company Artek , of which he was a co-founder. With an overall length of 2 metres and a height of 1. 5 metres, the room divider can be rolled up to save space. Thanks to the flexible plywood processing of pine wood, the screen can be placed and arranged free-standing as desired. In doing so, the room divider creates an organic wave shape. A trademark of the designer, which can be found in many of his product designs and architectural works.
With the flexible screen made of clear lacquered pine wood, rooms can be elegantly separated, newly created or structured. When not in use, the 100 screen from Artek can simply be rolled up. Thus, the room divider perfectly combines the basic elements of Alvar Aalto’s design: functionality paired with natural materials and an organic form language.
